Suzie Vesper - Professional Education Portfolio
I am a New Zealand-trained and registered educator (Registration: 189099) with 29 years of experience across New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia. My career is defined by a commitment to pedagogical excellence (recognised through two Teaching Excellence Award nominations) and a proven track record in school leadership and national-level advisory roles.
Leadership & Specialist Expertise
My background is uniquely diverse, encompassing roles as:
Mathematics Leadership: Led the school-wide implementation and staff professional development (PD) for Maths — No Problem!, ensuring effective introduction and delivery of this Singapore Maths-based approach (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract).
National ICT Advisor & Facilitator: Supported New Zealand schools with government initiatives, including ICT clusters and Digistore integration.
ESOL Specialist: Delivered targeted support for diverse linguistic learners in both face-to-face and online environments.
Curriculum Adaptability: Expert at translating diverse frameworks into practice, including the NZ Curriculum, UK National Curriculum, IB PYP, Cambridge International, and US AERO standards.
Alignment with 2026 NZ Reforms
My recent role as a Grade 6 Mathematics Specialist has further honed my skills to deliver the explicit, systematic instruction now mandated by the 2026 New Zealand daily teaching requirements. Having already led PD in Maths — No Problem! which is now one of the four Ministry-approved programs, I am uniquely positioned to support schools in the shift toward the Common Practice Model (CPM) and Te Mātaiaho.
I am an experienced practitioner who combines decades of classroom wisdom with a deep, proactive alignment to the current New Zealand educational landscape.
