Literacy Approaches and Resources
Literacy Philosophy and Philosophy of Practice
With over 20 years of experience across Years 3–8 and specialized expertise in both face-to-face and online English language instruction (ESL), I bring a deep understanding of literacy developmental. In line with new changes to the New Zealand curriculum, I see that my practice is grounded in the Common Practice Model, where I bridge the transition between Phase 2 (Years 4–6) and Phase 3 (Years 7–8) by combining systematic, explicit instruction with critical text analysis. Having taught in diverse international and ESL contexts, I am adept at tailoring Structured Literacy approaches to ensure all learners regardless of their starting point and in developing the linguistic precision required to navigate our refreshed New Zealand Curriculum.
